All are welcome - Care for Exceptional Needs Children
At St. Vincent Center for Children and Families, we happily accept exceptional needs children under the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). All families are treated with dignity and with respect for their individual needs and/or differences.
For parents of exceptional needs children, our Intake Coordinator will ensure that it is noted on the Child Care Application Form, and they will be given a Special Health Care Plan and Emergency Information for Children with Special Needs Form to be filled out by the parents and their health care provider collaboratively with a member of the child care program staff.
Children with exceptional needs will be given the opportunity to participate in the program to the fullest extent possible. To accomplish this, we may consult with local agencies/organizations as needed, provided parental permission is granted (Authorization for Release of Information form). Including our program staff on Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) and Individualized Education Program (IEP) case conferences is desired to ensure that the child’s care program provides the most supportive environment possible.
All St. Vincent's staff members participate in Inclusion Training and Caring for children with exceptional needs. We work with parents and health care professionals involved in the care of the child with special needs to determine the best accommodations and or therapy requirements. In addition, St. Vincent's staff may also consult with 4C Inclusion specialists as needed..
The individual written plan of care for children with exceptional needs is followed in all emergency situations. If recommended, St. Vincent's staff follow any IFSP or IEP set forth by a third party.
